About Morrow County
Morrow County is located in the state of Oregon, on the south side of the Columbia River. It is included in the 8 county definition of Eastern Oregon. The county is named for one of its first white settlers, Jackson L. Morrow, who was a member of the state legislature when the county was created. In 2000, the county's population was 10,996. The seat of the county is Heppner.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,047 square miles of which 2,031 square miles is land and 16 square miles is water.

Heppner is the heart of Irish country! With a
20-ft shamrock smack in the middle of town, it is hard to miss our community's
Irish heritage, made even more evident during our annual St. Patrick's Day
"A Wee Bit O'Ireland" celebration. This is where rural is for
real! Join the fun every March in Heppner this four day celebration

July - Watermelon Festival, Irrigon
Fun, family oriented day with kids games, good food including homemade pie (and of course watermelon). There is musical entertainment and raffles for prizes all day. A weekend long adult co-ed softball tournament caps off the activities. For more information, call (541) 922-3047.
