About Washington County

Washington County is a county in the state of Idaho. Established in 1879 when Idaho was a territory, it was named after U.S. president George Washington. As of the 2000 Census, the county had a population of 9,977; it is estimated to have risen to 10,147 by 2007. The county seat is Weiser.

According to the 2000 census, the county has a total area of 1,473.54 square miles, of which 1,456.32 square miles is land and 17.23 square miles is water.

June, National Oldtime Fiddlers Contest, Weiser
Life is full of surprises, we are happy to say that the National Oldtime Fiddlers Contest and Festival is one of the best surprises around. Since 1953, Weiser, Idaho has played host to fiddlers and friends from around the world. Dedicated to preserving and perpetuating fiddle music for generations to come, this annual festival offers many opportunities to listen and learn from some of the best musicians in the country.
